    The aim of this unit is to provide an introduction to basic computing terms and the different types of computing devices; to provide the knowledge and practical skills to use the Windows operating system; to learn how to use the logical structure of computer media; to manage files and folders using the tools ofthe Windows operating system; and to organise and store data efficiently.

      If you are familiar with the structure and facilities of a computer, then do this activity to see if you have consolidated your knowledge.

      - Create a folder on your desktop and name it SCIENCE.

      - In the SCIENCE folder, create a PHOTOS folder.

      - Create an empty text file called Text.txt in the SCIENCE folder. Note. File extensions must be visible. Once the folder is open, click Tools " Folder Options and in the View tab uncheck Hide extensions for known file types (if checked).

      - Start WordPad , write a few sentences about yourself. Save the file in the SCIENCE folder under the name CV.doc.

      - Make a copy of the CV.doc file in the SCIENCE folder, rename it CV_copy.doc.

      - Draw a postcard in Paint and save it under the name grazu.bmp in the SCHOOLS folder.

      - Find two .jpg photos and copy them to your PHOTOS folder.
